NOOOOOO! NOT LICE!

Your child comes home and the last thing you want to hear is “mom!!! My head itches!” You look and there it is……those dreaded bugs!!!!! The one thing I learned is think before you treat! Most lice products are loaded with chemicals so you don’t want to use it too many times and especially close together. So before you treat start with this combo

1/2 a cup of coconut oil melted

5 drops peppermint essential oil

5 drops citronella essential oil

5 drops tea tree (melaleuca) essential oil

5 drops oregano essential oil

You can replace some or add some such as thyme, eucalyptus, lavender, or/and geranium.

Apply to dry hair and let set anywhere from a half hour to an hour. Then go through small sections starting from the bottom of the hair line and work up going through the layers with a lice comb. Wiping each time on paper towel. Use a magnifying glass to look at what comes out of the hair. I use this mix daily and then only if i can’t get rid of it will I use a nontoxic all natural store bought product but still use the mix above daily.

Now! THINGS YOU NEED TO KNOW:

LICE HAVE BEEN AROUND FOR OVER 5 MILLION YEARS! That is a long time and a really gross thought! The lice comb was found as far back as 3000B.C. in Egypt mummy tombs. So at least the comb is a keeper…..

Lice lay eggs that can then hatch within 7-10 days. Only females lay eggs and can lay anywhere from one to about ten give or take a DAY!

Treating with the oil mix above and a comb will help you to make sure you are getting all bugs and eggs out before the can lay more eggs or eggs hatch.

When you talk about lice…..i swear your body and head will itch even if you have nothing….NOTHING! But treat yourself just to be safe!

Wash all sheets etc daily to make sure no bugs stay on the material. Make the mix minus the oil but add water and spray all furniture and beds to get rid of the bugs.

And last, add tea tree oil to all shampoo and conditioner. About 20 drops to each bottle and shake to mix to keep all bugs away!
